Hi, I’m Adrienne, the blogger behind Destinations & Desserts.  I’m an Iowa native settled in central Indiana with my husband and toddler daughter after more than a decade living in Massachusetts and California.  Although New England and the Bay Area will always hold a special place in my heart (and my palate – lobster, blueberries, avocados and fresh seafood galore – yum!), I’m very happy to be back home among the cornfields and cows.

Although I’m a lifelong traveler, I’ve never lived abroad or quit my job to backpack around the world, and I firmly believe that a passion for travel isn’t incompatible with a 9-5 job, a home and a family. While I love trips involving passports and airplanes as much as the next person, some of my favorite adventures have been within the United States and I love to take day and weekend trips exploring the Midwest and my adopted home state.

When I travel, you can usually find me eating (I’ve been known to plan trips around this one), stalking wildlife, photographing landscapes, hiking, swimming, watching sunsets, drinking iced coffee and curling up with a good book.

I’ve been to 46 US states and counting (New Mexico, Arkansas, Oklahoma, Mississippi and North Dakota, I’m coming for you), 42 countries and five continents.  Currently in regular rotation in my travel daydreams are visiting Thailand (done! and blogged about extensively), seeing polar bears up close, eating my way through France and Italy, driving between the US National Parks in the desert southwest and, if time and money were no object (ha), Antarctica.  A more detailed travel to-do list is here.

Questions? Comments?  I’d love to hear from you!  Email me at destinationsanddesserts (at) gmail (dot) com.
