During our visit to Legoland Florida, we added on a visit to Peppa Pig Theme Park, a small but charming park devoted to the beloved British children’s TV show. This is a unique add-on to the Legoland Florida resort that doesn’t exist at the two other Legoland theme parks in the US, and is one of the reasons we chose Florida over the Legolands in California and New York. This is the first ever Peppa Pig theme park, although a second US location has since opened near Dallas, Tex. and there is also one in Germany.
It probably goes without saying that Peppa Pig Theme Park caters to an even younger crowd than Legoland does. I’d say 2-6 are the prime ages for this park, although we did see some older kids enjoying themselves. At age 5, my daughter was already more excited about Legoland than Peppa Pig, but she enjoyed coming here and seeing the Peppa themed play areas, character meet and greets and the handful of rides.
Peppa Pig Theme Park is small, and we managed to cover everything in about two hours (although the splash pad area was closed for construction during our winter visit). If you have kids who are really obsessed with Peppa you may want to stay longer, but I definitely wouldn’t plan on a whole day here. The park is very cute and well-designed, but just doesn’t have enough to keep you busy for that long.
One important note: although Peppa Pig Theme Park is situated on the grounds of the Legoland Florida resort and is included in Legoland Hotel ticket packages, it is not inside Legoland. The parks have separate gates and are about a five minute walk from each other. They could really do a better job of making this clear. I saw more than one lost family wandering around Legoland looking for Peppa.
When you enter the park, you first see several play areas (Peppa Pig’s treehouse, Granny Pig’s garden) that are essentially just toddler-friendly themed playgrounds. This is a great place to hang out if you have some downtime, but you’re probably going to want to head to the rides first, especially if the park is crowded.
There are five real rides at Peppa Pig Theme Park:
- Daddy Pig’s Roller Coaster, a small, preschooler-friendly coaster
- Mr. Bull’s High Striker, a ride where you get lifted up and (gently) dropped
- Grampy Rabbit’s Dinosaur Adventure, where you ride Peppa’s little brother George’s beloved “dine-saur” around a prehistoric landscape with big dinos
- Granddog Dog’s Pirate Boat Ride, a gentle boat ride, and
- Peppa Pig’s Balloon Adventure, where you go soaring in hot air balloon baskets
The height limits for these rides all less than 36″, and they’re suitable for preschool age children. We had basically no wait for any ride, and were able to ride some of them several times even though we were only in the park for a couple of hours.
Peppa Pig Theme Park has shows scheduled throughout the day, although unfortunately on the day we visited the shows were canceled due to inclement weather. It was a beautiful, partly cloudy day with temperatures in the upper 60s so the cancellation was a bit baffling, but at least they sent George Pig out for a meet and greet, which eased the kids’ disappointment.
There are also carnival games in a “fun fair” themed area, some themed pretend play areas (like Peppa’s family camper van), a cinema playing the TV show on loop and Miss Rabbit’s diner, where you can grab kid-friendly foods like milkshakes and grilled cheese.
While Peppa Pig Theme Park isn’t something I’d build a vacation around, it’s a great addition to a Legoland Florida trip if you have toddlers or preschool age children who like the Peppa Pig TV show.
